A climbing season always offers countless unforgettable moments – from the first warm days of spring to the last sunny autumn climbs. Anyone who loves Multi-Pitch Climbing knows that every season has its own special charm. For anyone looking to round off their season with a rewarding climb, we’ve put together a selection of three regions from the Climbers Paradise portfolio.
Summer is drawing to a close, the days are getting shorter – and we’re taking a look back: which climbing areas in Tirol have impressed you the most this season? A glance at the statistics shows that you’ve been incredibly active and have explored the full diversity of Climbers Paradise – from A for Achensee to W for Wilder Kaiser.
For the grand finale, we’ve picked out three regions for you that are not only among your summer favourites but also make for worthwhile Finishing Points now in late autumn. Especially at this time of year, it’s important to choose your routes wisely:
Pack your gear once more, enjoy the colours of autumn – and experience Tirol’s Multi-Pitch Climbing at perhaps its very best!
Rote Flüh and Gimpel – evocative mountain names that set the hearts of Multi-Pitch Climbing enthusiasts racing! Even though the Gimpelhaus is now closed, these two iconic peaks still offer some rewarding routes in late autumn.
The big advantage in late autumn: whilst the cliff face can sometimes get crowded in summer, you now have a good chance of enjoying the route all to yourself – complete with a stunning panoramic view over the Tannheim Valley.
Important: Plan your descent time realistically and don’t forget to pack a headtorch in your rucksack!
After the climb, it’s well worth a visit to the Morent Restaurant in Zöblen – one of the smallest award-winning restaurants in the region, where slow food is served in a 400-year-old mountain farmhouse. Be sure to book in advance!
The classic Multi-Pitch Climbing routes in the Rofan Mountains are a real late-autumn treat! Two major advantages:
Simply take the first cable car up, enjoy the view of the autumnal Achensee and then set off at a leisurely pace on a two-pitch route – and if you feel like it, tack on a 2nd one straight away. The last cable car returns to the valley at 5.00 pm.
If the November chill starts to seep into your bones, the Atoll Achensee, with its penthouse spa, offers the perfect après-climb experience.
The south-facing walls, which were sometimes too hot for climbing in summer, become ideal climbing spots in autumn: the sun now warms your back pleasantly – a world of difference from the summer heat!
About the region:Steinberge
What the region has to offer:
It never hurts to have a head torch in your rucksack; it’ll put your mind at ease if there’s a bit of a delay on the wall. After a climb, the Aubad in Fieberbrunn beckons with its sauna village: whether it’s a Finnish Swiss stone pine sauna or a Tirolean alpine sauna – tired muscles are soothed here.
