1. Kletterhalle Wörgl in the Kufsteinerland region

We’re starting in the east, in theKufsteinerland region: the Wörgl climbing centre is situated right next to the Wörgl West motorway exit.

  • Bouldering area
  • Indoor and outdoor areas
  • Café and bistro in the entrance area
  • Small hire counter and shop

2. Kletterzentrum Innsbruck (KI)

Heading further west, to the Innsbruck region – and thus to one of the major highlights, not only in Tirol but worldwide. After years of planning, climbing legend Reini Scherer opened the Kletterzentrum Innsbruck (KI) in May 2017. It also houses the national training centre for competitive climbers.

At a glance:

  • 5,700 m² of climbing space
  • 17-metre wall height
  • around 500 routes and 200 boulders
  • Indoor and outdoor areas, dedicated course area, weight room
  • Shop and café

Elite and recreational sport come together perfectly here. It’s always worth a visit: to marvel at the Architecture with its towers visible from afar, to have a go at the routes and Bouldering yourself – and, quite often, to watch professionals from the scene as they train.

3. Bergstation Telfs

Next stop: Telfs West motorway exit; turn left at the roundabout – and you’ll soon see the outdoor area of the Telfs top station. A modern and cosy hall with:

  • outdoor and indoor areas
  • A café and shop
  • its own training area
  • a large bouldering area with a colour-coded system

5. Kletterzentrum Imst

Those who prefer rock climbing should drive just a few minutes further from the Imst exit to the Kletterzentrum Imst:

  • a very large, impressive outdoor area
  • indoor area with steep overhangs
  • bouldering area
  • shop and café

Conclusion: It’s definitely worth taking a short break from your journey to pop into the climbing centres right by the motorway.
