Approach

From there you walk to the Gletscherstube and then follow the old trail towards the Braunschweiger Hut until the marked turning to the via verratas (on the left side of the trail). Approx. 1 h

You reach the starting point of the via ferrata in 20 minutes via the hiking path.

Description

Gamssteig: The "Gamssteig"-variant rounds off the set of possibilities within the climbing park of the "Pitztaler Gletscher". With a maximum difficulty level of D it serves as an ideal preparation for the expert route, which is easily accessible via the "Bilanzierstation". (350m length)

  • Arrival by public transport

    Take the bus till the bus stop Mittelberg Wendestelle.

  • Parking

    Exit the motorway A12 at "IMST - Pitztal" or if you are coming from the Fernpass then look for the direction Pitztal at Imst. Drive into the Pitztal until the valley head at Mittelberg (Municipality of St. Leonhard). There you can find a parking area for mountaineers on the left-hand side. The access by car to the Gletscherstube is strictly forbidden! Please use the provided parking area.
    Free car park at the car park Mittelberg or Pitztal Glacier.
