Is climbing only possible in summer and in a T-shirt? Definitely not! When temperatures drop below freezing over a long period, there are perfect conditions for ice climbing. Climber’s Paradise Tirol provides free information about the best ice climbing routes in Tirol.

The Top Three out of eleven ice climbing regions in Tirol

We offer all topos for the eleven existing ice climbing areas online and in print quality. Moreoever you will find all necessary information such as the height of the ice, access or orientation. We want to present three regions in detail:

  • Taschach Gorge, Hexenbesen, Luibis or Havanna: Pitztal Glacierhas numerous ice climbing routes.
  • Western Tirol is an eldorado for ice climbing. Spectacular waterfalls in Ötztal are highly recommended for ice climbing, such as Bichlfall, Selfwondfall orAtterbachfall.
  • Innsbruck and the surrounding holiday villages offer eight challenging ice climbing routes. One of them, the Gasthausfall, is also recommended for beginners. As the name “Gasthaus” (= restaurant in German) says, the waterfall is close to a restaurant. To warm up after climbing, feel free to discover the culinary specialities offered.

 

Three icefalls in Climber’s Paradise Tirol, you should have seen

  • Alfredo is a moderate icefall in Paznaun with easy access. Perfect for beginners!
  • Blässefall in Tannheim Tal is an outstanding icefall which is often underestimated. Practical: Vilsalpsee, the local restaurant, invites you to stop.
  • Angst vor Lust is located in the region Nauders – Tirolean Oberland – Kaunertal. It is a mentally challenging climb with its free-hanging icicles. However, it is optically stunning!
