Description

The Renkfälle are among the most popular and best ice climbing areas in Tyrol.

Caution: The approach is also prone to avalanches!
The descent is made by rappeling down the routes or via the Anton Renk - Hütte (through this latter option carries a high avalanche risk!).
The icefalls (at 2.000 m) often still offer good conditions as late as early April.

Journey

Take the A12 towards Bregenz/Reschenpass/Kaunertal; Take the B 180 towards Ried. From Ried to St. Christina, turn left towards Gfrans and follow the gravel road to the forest track and the barrier leading to the Stalanzeralpe. Continue to the Stalanzer Alm and up to the base of the icefalls.
