Climbing Area Hinterreintalschrofen South Face / Leutasch
At 2,250 meters above sea level, above the Rotmoosalm in the Wetterstein Mountains, lies the alpine and newly refurbished climbing area Hinterreintalschrofen South Face. Experienced climbers will find a total of 7 routes here – both sport climbing and multi-pitch – in grades 5 and 6, on typical Wetterstein limestone.
The area was rebolted in spring 2022. Full alpine gear (helmet, rappel device, mobile protection, half rope for multi-pitches, etc.) and solid alpine climbing experience are absolutely essential.
Perched high above the Gaistal valley near Leutasch, the setting is spectacular. The Rotmoosalm (2030 m) is the perfect base: enjoy a second breakfast before climbing, and later wind down with homemade dumplings, Kaiserschmarrn, and more, all served with warm hospitality from hosts Eva and Florian. The hut also makes an ideal base for multi-day climbing adventures in the Wetterstein Mountains, with the legendary Schüsselkar climbing area only 1.5 hours away.
Note: Despite careful maintenance and rebolting, alpine hazards such as falling rocks cannot be completely ruled out. Climbing in this area is at your own risk. Proper handling of climbing gear, rope and safety techniques, route selection, and tour planning are essential.
