This challenging via ferrata is usually used for the descent after the ascent of the "Leoganger Süd" via ferrata, but is also highly recommended as an independent ascent to the western Mitterspitze. In the upper section after the bridge traverse (Passauer Steg), a beautiful, not more difficult variant is possible by climbing out through the Teufelsloch, which leads to the south wall.
An ideal base is the Passauer Hütte (from Leogang through the Ullach district to the parking area. Take the AV trail 623 to the Passauer Hütte. Well laid out path, steep in the upper part with partly light insurance. Hiking time approx. 3 hours).
From the Passauer Hut (2,051m) on the path under the north face of the Fahnenkopf to the start of the via ferrata.
In Leogang near the church, take the junction to the north (sign "Passauer-Hütte") and follow the signs until the parking space oft the Passauer-Hut.
