The Kaiserschützensteig is a long, alpine via ferrata with difficulty level B/C and 1+. Not all parts of the climb are rope-secured, again and again you find yourself in unsecured walking terrain. Absolute surefootedness and a head for heights is a prerequisite. Also the approach to the climb and the descent from the summit of the Ellmauer Halt are not to be underestimated.
You will be rewarded with 3 peaks and impressive scenic views amidst the rugged peaks of the Wilder Kaiser!
The access leads from the Hans-Berger-Haus via the marked Gamsängersteig 813 to the beginning of the upper Schärlingerboden (a wide, flat cirque). On the left side is the entrance to the Kaiserschützensteig.
The descent from the Ellmauer Halt leads along the marked Gamsängersteig. Before the "Jägerwandtreppe" you branch off to the right and via the Rote Rinn Scharte it goes over the Schärlingerböden to the north-west back to the Hans-Berger-Haus.
Via the Inntal motorway to Kufstein, take the Kufstein Nord exit. At the roundabout take the 3rd exit in the direction of Ebbs. Follow the road and at the 2nd crossing turn right into the district Sparchen (Kaiseraufstieg).
From Kufstein train station take the city bus line 1 or 2 to the stop "Kaisertal".
With the KufsteinerlandCard within the region bus free of charge.
There is a large car park (subject to charge) at the Kaiseraufstieg.
