The major attractions of the crag on the Wilderer Kanzel are its unique location and the variety of its climbs in all levels of difficulty. The rock face between Kleines Törl and Bergsteigergrab offers short and easy routes on the practice rock for beginners, as well as interesting routes up to 25 metres long and up to the difficulty level 8a+. Above all, however, what makes a visit to this climbing area so rewarding are the views of the summits of the Ellmauer Halt, Treffauer, Kaiserkopf and the main ridge of the Alps to the south.
From the Wochenbrunner Alm take trail no. 812/822 to the Gaudeamushütte and continue on trail no. 824 following the signs to Baumgartenköpfl as far as the fork to the Wilder-Kaiser-Steig trail. From here follow trail no. 823 heading for Kleines Törl. Then continue on the Gildensteig trail no. 815 following signs to Wilderer Kanzel and it’s about 10 min to the fork to the crag.
If you’re coming on the B178 road from Wörgl or Kufstein, take the Ellmau exit and then the first exit at the roundabout. Go straight down the road until you reach the turn-off (green signs) towards Kaisergebirge/Wochenbrunn. Turn left here and immediately right again. Now follow the road, a toll road, till you reach the Wochenbrunner Alm car park.
If you’re coming on the B178 from St. Johann, take the Ellmau exit and continue straight ahead until the Bauhof junction (green signposts towards Kaisergebirge/Wochenbrunn). Turn right here and immediately right again. Now follow the toll road till you reach the Wochenbrunner Alm car park.
