Sport climbing in St. Anton – gneiss and limestone at its finest

When you hear of St. Anton am Arlberg and the surrounding mountains, skiing, pistes and winter sports often come to mind. However, the region also offers plenty of climbing possibilities for both beginners and experts in summer. The St. Anton outdoor region offers 73 sport climbing routes, 12 multi pitch routes, two climbing gyms, one high rope garden and two via ferratas. Here, you can also enjoy the magnificent views of the surrounding mountains such as the Lechtal Alps and Verwall.

The two most beautiful climbing gardens in St. Anton am Arlberg

  • Darmstädter Hütte climbing garden:The Darmstädter Hütte hut is a mountain hut located in the South of St. Anton on an altitude level of 2.384m. In summer, the area is surrounded by beautiful alpine flower meadows. Around the hut, there are gneiss rocks which offer many climbing possibilities. The climbing garden provides up to 70 routes in seven sectors. The routes are graded between 3 and 9+. Afterwards you can stop by at the Darmstädter Hütte hut for refreshments.
  • Schnann climbing garden: The Schnann climbing garden is located in the idyllic Schnanner gorge and recommended to both beginners and experienced climbers. The climbing garden lies in the share and offers routes between 3 and 9-. The type of rock is limestone. There are both technically demanding slabs, steep walls and crimpy routes. There are also some boulders in different difficulty levels.
