For skilled climbers, our mountain guides recommend the climbing area in Plangeross in the valley of Piz. The so-called Witch's cauldron (in German "Hexenkessel") enchants climbers with ca. 90 climbing tours. Bertram Tschiderer and Patric Rupprich renovated the climbing area in 2012.
Park at the designated parking area for the Rüsselheimer and Kaunergrat Hut. From there, follow the steep trail 911 uphill towards Rüsselheimer hut for ca. 30 minutes. Leave the trail to the left at the rocks and orientate yourself on the climb tracks towards the climbing garden. The access leads through an avalanche line. Especially in spring, when the access is already clear of snow, beware of avalanches from high-alpine areas above.
By car: From the motorway exit A12 "IMST - Pitztal"; follow the road towards the Pitztaler Glacier for about 45 minutes. Between the districts Weißwald and Plangeroß there is a car park on the right side.
By bus: Get off at the Plangeroß stop and walk out of the valley for approx. 5 minutes until you reach the turn-off towards the Rüsselsheimer Hütte.
At the free car park between the districts Weißwald and Plangeroß.
