Right in front of the entrance to the Karwendel mountains, in Scharnitz, a completely new and impressive climbing area was created near the new Scharnitz bypass. The project was realized together with Heinz Zak, the municipality of Scharnitz and the Seefeld Tourism Association.
Heinz Zak, one of Austria's best-known extreme climbers, has renovated the old routes in the recent months and brought them up to the latest safety standards. In addition, new routes have been set up, so that now a total of 60 routes in the limestone rock of the Wetterstein mountains and in moderate degrees of difficulty (3 to 7) are waiting for beginners and families.
A chill area with tables, benches, slacklines and a fountain for refreshment and relaxation has also been created. Parking space (P8) is close to the climbing area "Sonnenplatten Scharnitz". Put on your climbing shoes and harness, strap on your chalk bag and off you go! Find your favourite routes with difficulty levels from 3 to 7.
