Best rock quality and great routes – multi pitch climbing in Ötztal

Ötztal is a worthwhile holiday destination both in winter and summer. It is 67km long and located in the middle of the Ötztal Alps. In Ötztal, you can find Tirol’s highest waterfall, Stuibenfall, and Austria’s second highest mountain, the Wildspitze (3.772m). Ötztal is well known for its beautiful and versatile possibilities for climbing. Both families with kids and seasoned climbers will find suitable climbs in Ötztal. If you don’t want to go climbing, you can go rafting, canyoning, kayaking, canoeing or visit the Aqua Dome thermal bath in Längenfeld or the Piburger See lake close to Oetz.

2 tips for multi pitch climbing in Ötztal

There are many great places in Ötztal where you can do multi pitching, such as the Geierwand wall in Haiming (20 routes), the Simmering wall (18 routes) or the Burgsteinerwand wall in Längenfeld. Furthermore, we recommend the following areas for multi pitch climbing:

  • Längenfeld/Nösslach: In Nösslach, there is not only a climbing garden, but also fantastic, well secured multi pitch routes with a short ascent and descent walk. The rock is solid. A true climbing eldorado!
  • Tumpen/Engelswand: The Engelswand wall in Tumpen offers three multi pitch routes. There is also a climbing garden at Engelswand which is perfectly suitable for family with children.
