Family-friendly climbing gardens in the Tirolean Oberland – climbing fun for old and young

4 tips for family-friendly climbing gardens

The Tirolean Oberland is a climbing eldorado for climbing-affine families. There are a total of four climbing gardens which are recommended for both old and young:

  • Fernergries – Kaunertal: The Fernergriess climbing garden is the biggest on in Kaunertal. It provides 44 routes in two sectors. The type of rock is ferric oxid gneiss and has good friction. The routes are well secured and between the third and fifth difficulty grade. The access hike only takes five minutes.
  • Nauders climbing garden: There are 50 well secured routes in the climbing garden in Nauders. It’s located next to the old Roman street, Via Claudia. During climbing breaks, you can watch historical tanks as the climbing garden is located on the museum campus in Nauders.
  • Pflanzgarten climbing garden – Nauders:The Pflanzgarten in Nauders is a small and shady climbing garden which is particularly recommended on hot summer days. There are four vertical routes graded 3 to 5. The rough structure of the wall provides good holds for children.
  • Sauerbrunn climbing garden in Prutz: The Sauerbrunn climbing garden is located in Prutz, next to the Sauerbrunn well. It is ideal for everyone who loves climbing indoors and wants to try outdoor climbing for the first time. The holds were chipped. After lunch time, the climbing garden becomes shady. There is also a playground which is perfect for children to run around.
