3 tips for sport climbing gardens in the Steinberge Mountains

  • Steinplatte climbing garden: The Steinplatte climbing garden is one of the best in Central Europe. The wall is 7km long and up to 200m high. Parts of the Steinplatte area are the Waidringer Steinplatte, the Wiesloch, Wemeteigen, Schwollwand wall, Sonnwand wall, Tanzboden and the Urlkopf to the Lachfeldkopf. The western and the eastern border of the area is easily accessible. In these two parts, there are all in all 70 sport climbing routes graded between 4 and 8.
  • Weißbach climbing garden: The Weißbach village is located just across the Tirolean border in Salzburg. It is a true climbing mecca. There are both many very hard  and medium to easy routes. The access hikes are very short. The area has several sectors and hundreds of short routes which can be reached from the Pillerseetal valley within 20 to 30 minutes.
  • Wiesensee climbing garden: The Wiesensee climbing garden is idyllically located next to the little Wiesensee lake between St. Ulrich and Hochfilzen. This area is also great for families with children as there are many easy climbs. All in all, the area has 25 routes graded between 3 and 7. The access hike only takes three minutes.
