Climbing Holiday
To the Climbingoffer
The Loferer and Leogang Mountains („Loferer und Leoganger Steinberge“) have a lot to offer: from familiy-friendly climbing gardens, ten challenging via ferratas and more than 1.000 sport climbing routes to alpine multi pitches. The route „Pinzgawurm“ is one of the longest alpine sport climbing routes. We recommend printing the topo of your preferred area already at home before you leave – you will find it one the website of Climber’s Paradise Tirol. Another recommendation is the impressive Steinplatte the Tirol-Salzburg border region. In the past few years, the parking areas and the trails to the climbing gardens have been uniformly marked. Additionally to the existing guide book “Steinplatte” by Adi Stocker, a Climbing Manual with climbing possibilities and valuable information has been pusblished. They are available for free in the tourist offices of Saalfelden Leogang, Salzburg Saalachtal and Pillersee Tal.
The Loferer Mountains in Tirol and Salzburg are also called „Stoaberg“ (lit. Stone Mountains). Starting points for the peaks of the Loferer Mountains are the villages Lofer (Loferer Hochtal), St. Martin close to Lofer or other Tirolean villages. Some of the most popular climbing areas have been developed around the Steinplatte, Loferer and Leogang Mountains. These climbing areas have been climbed by legends like Markus Bendler, Chris Sharma and the Huber Brothers („Huber Buam“).
