Climbing in the mountain range Karwendelgebirge

Climbing has been tradition in Seefeld in the mountain range Karwendelgebirge since 1922. Pioneers of climbing like Bernhard Prommer, Reini Scherer, Heinz Zak and Bernhard Hangl opened many via ferratas and climbing gardens. A very popular crag for sport climbing is e. g. the “Chinesische Mauer”. While this area is mainly for experienced climbers, “Mauerbogen” offers many climbs for beginners and hobby climbers. For an eventful family climbing day the climbing area Flämenwandl or the new climbing garden Sonnenplatten in Scharnitz is best suited.

The climbing gardens have been regularly maintained by the Austrian Alpine Club “Mauerfix”. Visit their homepage for more information about climbing and maintainance.
